Little Yellow Brick Pick #12 - Lego Friends Brick Calendar 850581

Hello everybody.. it's been a while since we have had a Little Yellow Brick Pick post.
There's a backlog of new products we have acquired to share/review.. but today, let me share with you all my latest toy and excitement!

Presenting our new Lego lifestyle product
Lego Friends Brick Calendar 850581

I knew that I just had to get myself a set when I saw it on sale on lego.com around a month back. There's also the Lego Friends Pencil Holder which I'm eyeing - although I don't have any use for it though. Hah!
I really like the Friends series.. Maybe the Mister may wanna consider collecting a new series? *hint hint*

I wasn't hoping that I would find this when I visited Secret Chamber Holland Village over the weekend.. But boy am I so so happy to own such a happy looking set! Heh. And hey, it was on offer at $18.90, which is pretty much almost the same price in the US! :)

Look at all the pretty looking Lego pieces! I really love the colours!

February 2013!

How time flies! It's the beginning of the month again, and it is time for another calendar post!

We recently watched Les Miserables the movie - it was the first time we had ever watched the play in any form - and it sure left a deep impression on us!

As we thought about what to add to the February calendar post, we had a bright (although not original, we have found Lego Les Miserables posts on the web!) idea to use our Lego collection to somewhat reproduce some of the characters in the movie.

So without much further ado, we present to you our Lego Yellow Brick February 2013 Lego Les Miserables post!

French troops led by Javert!

This set was put together using the following Lego sets:
1. 10210 Imperial Flagship: Admiral (Javert), soldiers and 1 pirate hat (for French calvary)
2. 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty: more soldiers, 1 cannon, 3 rifles and 1 pirate hat (for French calvary)
3. King George's Officers: Javert's police constables
4. 10223 Kingdoms Joust: 2 horses, and helmets for French calvary (funeral hearse escort)
6. 7946 King's Castle: 1 horse

Enjoy!

Blessed New Year 2013!

2012 marked an important event in our lives. We got engaged, planned a wedding, got married, had a really memorable time at the wedding and moved in to stay together.

I married my best friend (well, most of the time, hehe), my best gossip partner, sister, brother, husband and edifying other.

Here's to more Lego building, learning to share, more fights over who to build what (I love the big builds while he's better at the smaller, more intricate building), and more sets to add to our Lego collection.

Have a blessed and great New Year everybody.

XOXO
Missus Little Yellow Brick

Little Yellow Brick Pick #3 - 853195 Brick Calendar

We bought this today! :)

Completed Brick Calendar. Comes with two minifigs - a cheerleader and a skateboarder!

The Lego Brick Calendar was released in June 2011; at the time of this publication, all specialist Lego stores except Toy Station have run out of stock (be warned, Toy Station has only around 30 boxes left!)

This calendar is probably one of the simplest structures Lego will ever create. This colourful calendar makes a cheerful display in the living room or office desk. Perhaps one of the improvements Lego could have on this set is the whole point of this calendar - the day blocks. Each block has to be added manually to the red layers, which means that most of this calendar has to be taken apart every 30 days or so.

Lastly, the Calendar comes with two minifigs - a cheerleader and a skateboarder. While they may not be totally relevant to a calendar, they sure will come in handy in our Modular town. Well, we'll stop here for now. Stay tuned for our other building posts - Market Street, Grand Carousel and Winter Village Toy Shop! :)
