Little Yellow Brick Pick # 17: 10246 Detective's Office

The sets are arriving faster than we have time to build them! Our backlog of Modular Buildings is now two sets - 10243 Parisian Restaurant (released last year) and now the 10246 Detective's Office. Series-wise, we are yet to post the series with the 10232 Palace Cinema, which we have completed but haven't found the time (and space) to create a post on the growing Modular Town.

We will eventually get there, but for now, we shall proudly present to you our latest collection to the Modular Building series!

Back View. Seems like the Modular Town isn't one continuous stretch anymore.

Just one quick comment before we sign off. The box for this set is a bit thicker than the smaller, standard-issue ones such as the 10185 Green Grocer, 10197 Fire Brigade or 10218 Pet Shop. Bye!

Little Yellow Brick Pick #14 - 10243 Parisian Restaurant

Happiness comes in a HUGEEEEEE Amazon box today! :) Was surprised to see our Amazon purchases when we returned from work this evening! We eagerly opened the box to find our 10243 Parisian Restaurant! And the box was in great condition!! Yay to more online purchases from Amazon!

As usual, we apologise for our lack of updates. We haven't purchased many Lego sets of late, and although the 10244 Lego Fairground Mixer and 31026 Bike Shop and Cafe look quite tempting (to Mrs Little Yellow Brick), we aren't sure if we would be purchasing them to add to our collection.Well, don't fret.. you can be sure we will continue our Winter Village series once the next Winter Village set is on sale! :)

On a personal note, I am thankful for a good half year so far. We have collected our keys to our home, and... just maybe.. we could have a cabinet displaying our Lego collection; if space permits! :)
We will definitely post photos on Little Yellow Brick if we do so!

On another happy note, we are about 12 weeks more to welcoming Baby Little Yellow Brick! Although I wouldn't be purchasing Disney Princess Duplo (Ooooooooooooh 41055 Cinderella's Romantic Castle) and Lego Friends (Are you reading Mr Little Yellow Brick? Where's my Olivia's House?!?), I guess Baby Little Yellow Brick wouldn't mind a Duplo Zoo / Train Set. Hehehehe.

I'm very thankful for a blessed year so far. Meanwhile, do look out for our next entry on the 10243 Parisian Restaurant! We will definitely try to build it before I pop! :)

Our 18th Lego Project - 10232 Palace Cinema

Model: 10232 Palace Cinema
2194 pieces
Released in 2013
Retail price: $149.99 USD

Yup! We have finally built the 10232 Palace Cinema modular building! Although we completed the building in January we only got down to taking photos this month! Hehe.

Presenting our 18th Lego project..... 10232 Palace Cinema! :)

All eyes on our star minifig arriving at the Palace Cinema for her movie premiere!

Round the corner from Movie Boulevard!

Time for the grand entrance!

Our 10232 Palace Cinema box. Bought in Munich while we were traveling! Notice that the box front doesn't indicate the number of pieces?

Back of the box

The 10232 Palace Cinema is the 8th modular building released by Lego. It is also the first entertainment hangout where our town's minifigs can wind down after a hard week's work!

The third corner modular building after the 10182 Cafe Corner and the 10211 Grand Emporium, the 10232 Palace Cinema is a grand structure which rivals the colossal 10224 Town Hall in height. It is also the first modular building set to have "portable" structures - the floodlights and barriers are to be placed along the street. Additionally, the limousine is also expected to be outside of the pavement (the 10197 Fire Brigade also has a fire engine, but building has been designed to allow the entrance and exit of the vehicle).

The 10232 Palace Cinema is a lovely addition to the Lego Modular Town family. We are excited about combining it with our  Lego Modular Town. Stay tuned for our next post in this series!

Our Growing Lego Modular Town - Seven and Counting

It has been an eventful November thus far. Where shall we start? Well, last week, Mr. and Mrs. Little Yellow Brick were at Legoland Malaysia! The trip is worth a post by itself, and is not the focus of today's post.

Per Little Yellow Brick tradition, a new addition to the Modular Building series is followed by a post on the ever-expanding town. So without any further ado, we present to you (rather belatedly) our Growing Lego Modular Town - Seven and Counting!

Put another way, this post could also be renamed the Complete Lego Modular Town 2012, given that the latest building to this series is the 10224 Town Hall!

We have truly come a long way since our first Modular Building purchase. Today we have 7 completed Modular Buildings, with our 8th, the 10232 Palace Cinema, to be added to the collection once we get down to building it! We have presented the buildings in one entire stretch, which is the last opportunity for us to do so as the 10232 Palace Cinema is the 3rd corner building after the 10182 Cafe Corner and 10211 Grand Emporium. Not sure if Lego is going to create a 4th, that would be pretty strange to have the buildings form a rectangle given that some of the buildings have a functioning back exit, such as the 10197 Fire Brigade, which allows the fire truck to enter and exit.

Enough talk for now. We shall leave you to enjoy this long-overdue post (more pictures in the extended post). As always, thank you for supporting Little Yellow Brick!

Little Yellow Brick News #4 - 10243 Parisian Restaurant

Photos of the new Lego modular building have surfaced on the internet! Yikes! It seems a bit difficult to keep up with the building these days. We have recently completed our 10224 Town Hall and have yet to open our 10232 Palace Cinema!

Anyway, the 10243 Parisian Restaurant is scheduled to be released in Jan 2014! Here's more photos and details, credit to Brickset.

Missus Little Yellow Brick: I absolutely love the vibrant colours on the store front!! Just watched the YouTube video and I'm excited to hear that there would be a detailed kitchen in this building!
This set reminds me of our recent trip to Paris! Maybe Mr Little Yellow Brick might consider bringing me back there to relive the memories? *Hint hint*

Have an unforgettable evening at the amazing Parisian Restaurant!
It’s very busy in the Parisian Restaurant. As a scooter zips by, inside the waiter rushes between the tables as the nervous young man gets ready to propose with the ring! It’s just as hectic behind the scenes, with the chef busily preparing the food. This beautifully detailed building is the setting for so many stories and is a great addition to the modular building series. The Parisian Restaurant has a fully-stocked, blue and white tiled kitchen with tableware as well as a cozy apartment with pull-down bed, kitchenette and fireplace. On the top floor is the artist’s room with a studio that includes a cast iron heater, easel, paintbrush and two works of art by the aspiring artist. Outside, stairs lead down to the roof terrace lined with hanging lanterns and flowers where the diners eat alfresco-style. This amazing Parisian Restaurant model even includes a facade with croissants, clams and feather details that recapture the feel of Paris. Includes 5 minifigures: chef, waiter, girl and a romantic couple.

Our 16th Lego Project - 10224 Town Hall

1 year, 3 months and 13 days. That's how long it has taken this author to finally publish this post. If, as they say, procrastination is the thief of time and time is money, then Little Yellow Brick has probably lost a fortune.

Well, we do hope that we haven't lost too many readers (although your patience must be wearing very thin)! Without much further ado, Little Yellow Brick presents our long-awaited, overdue-is-the-epitome-of-understatements-to-describe, 10224 Town Hall!

  • Model: 10224 Town Hall
  • 2766 Pieces
  • Released in 2012
  • Retail price: $199.99 USD

The largest modular building released by Lego yet, the Town Hall is a must-have for collectors, especially Modular series fan. With a clock and bell tower stacked on top of three storeys, this majestic structure dwarfs the other buildings in the series.

The 10224 Town Hall is also the first Modular Building not to have stairs inside its structure - instead, it has an elevator to transport minifigs up and down its three floors.

The 10224 Town Hall comes with 8 minifigs - the mayor, one town hall office staff, one town hall cleaner, two newly-weds, a wedding photographer, and two children.

Display-wise, the 10224 Town Hall is an imposing building which would look grand on its own. Alongside its other Modular buildings, it makes for an increasing well-equipped Modular Town. As fans of the Modular series, we would recommend combining the 10224 Town Hall with all the other modular buildings - on that note, do stay tuned for our combined modular buildings post!

We could probably go on all day about this mammoth building, but we would prefer to let the pictures do the talking. So, as usual, enjoy the pictures in the extended post!

    Sneak Peek: 10224 Town Hall

Hello everyone! We finally built the 10224 Town Hall around 2 weeks' back! And wow, I realised that the Town Hall was purchased more than a year ago! Sorry for taking so long! We were distracted with wedding plans (just celebrated our 10 month!).. and work and travel.

Regardless, we are thankful for having a steady number of daily visitors despite our infrequent blogging.

Well, we managed to build the Town Hall because I have been down with awful hives for about 3 weeks now! We spent our previous weekend indoors and decided to finally open the set!

Here's a sneak peek of our completed 10224 Town Hall. I will get the hubster to work on his review of the set soon! Till our next post! Stay tuned! :)

    10224 - Town Hall

I must say, we were pretty impressed with this modular building! There's a lift on the right side which can be controlled by the grey knob below!
